The present invention relates to a method for screening a skin whitening agent by using a stromal cell-derived factor 1 (SDF1) promoter region, which enables the observation of the correlation between the pigment expression amount of the skin and the expression of an SDF1 promoter, and thus is expected to be usable in a system for screening a pigmentation material and a pigment reduction material in advance. In addition, a drug screened by the present invention can be used in the treatment of skin pigment-associated diseases.
