The present invention relates to an Internet of things (IoT) communication system based on the generation of identification codes of things and a communication method and, more specifically, to a technique which informatizes things with thing identification codes generated based on personal identification codes and communicates with informatized things via the Internet or smart devices. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the IoT communication system comprises: a thing registration server to receive a personal identification code generation request signal, generate a personal identification code corresponding to a user based on the received request signal, and generate a thing identification code corresponding to a thing to be registered by the user based on the generated personal identification code; a database to store the generated personal identification code and the generated thing identification code; and a control server to receive a connection request signal associated with the thing identification code, and search for a thing identification code corresponding to the received request signal to provide information for a thing corresponding to the searched thing identification code.
