The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, and a production method thereof. A positive electrode material for a lithium secondary battery according to the present invention maximizes capacity due to a high nickel content and minimizes cobalt content, thereby providing price competitiveness. On the other hand, the low initial coulomb efficiency of the material can be significantly improved by adding antimony.
