A combination of experimental and computer-use workflows that enable the characterization of subcutaneous tissue microbial flora and its associated metabolites. In particular, embodiments of the methods and associated computer-use platforms provided herein relate to performing tailored or personalized tests and obtaining customized or personalized information on skin and subcutaneous tissue flora and their associated metabolites. This can be accomplished by simultaneously identifying hundreds of microorganisms or metabolites on the subject's skin and subcutaneous tissue and comparing the resulting profile with previously accumulated healthy profiles from the skin profile database. Individual profiles are proprietary probiotic skin care products and individuals that maintain a health profile or move an individual's skin and subcutaneous tissue flora or its associated metabolites closer to a healthy profile, while simultaneously enhancing synergy between the microbial flora and the host's immune system.
