The present invention relates to a device for cooling spent nuclear fuel, capable of cooling the spent nuclear fuel by a simple facility when a nuclear power plant is decommissioned, and a method for cooling the spent nuclear fuel using the same. According to the present invention, the device for cooling spent nuclear fuel comprises: a spent nuclear fuel storage tank filled with coolant and accommodating spent nuclear fuel; a heat exchanger exchanging heat with the coolant in the spent nuclear fuel storage tank; and a cooling tower cooling the coolant of the spent nuclear fuel storage tank through the heat exchanger.
