The present invention relates to a system for extinguishing a fire in a double-floor space of a main control room and a method for extinguishing a fire, which early detect and extinguish the fire occurring in the double-floor space of the main control room of a power plant to prevent the spread of the fire to the main control room, thereby preventing the function of the power plant from being stopped. When a fire sensor unit in the double-floor space detects the fire, atomized water is sprayed through a nozzle in the double-floor space and smoke generated by the fire is discharged to the outside through a smoke suction unit, thereby early detecting the fire in the double-floor space and preventing the spread of the fire to ensure the safety and habitability of an operator in the main control room.
