The present invention relates to a method for preparing metal ion-doped seria, including the steps of: (a) adding a basic material to cerium acetate solution to modify pH; (b) adding a basic material to a metal ion precursor solution to modify pH; and (c) dispersing each of the solutions obtained from steps (a) and (b) in a solvent, and carrying out solvothermal reaction at a temperature of 90-160°C to form metal ion-doped seria. According to the present invention, it is possible to prepare metal ion-doped seria having a high specific surface area and crystallinity at a temperature (90-160°C) lower than the conventional hydrothermal synthesis temperature in a cost-efficient manner through a solvothermal synthesis process without any surfactant or additional heat treatment. Particularly, the specific surface area of metal ion-doped serial can be improved significantly by using cerium acetate as a cerium precursor.
