According to the present invention, disclosed are a videofluoroscopic swallowing study-based (VFSS-based) automatic dysphagia detection system and a detection method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the VFSS-based automatic dysphagia detection system comprises: an image extraction unit; an area detection unit; a food detection unit; a calculation unit; and a determination unit. According to the present invention, a ratio of a residual food area in vallecula epiglottica and piriform sinus areas is measured, and thus severity of dysphagia can be determined through the measured ratio.
