The present specification discloses: a hard carbon including a plurality of sheet-like polyaromatic carbon layers, wherein the plurality of carbon layers are spaced apart, and at least one carbon layer of the carbon layers includes heteroatoms and micropores; a manufacturing method thereof; a negative electrode including the same; and a sodium secondary battery and a supercapacitor including the negative electrode. According to the present invention, a microstructure, composition, and pore structure of the hard carbon can be controlled from a controlled manner through the use of a reactive template, and the negative electrode comprising the hard carbon of the present invention as a negative electrode active material may provide a sodium secondary battery and a supercapacitor having excellent sodium ion storage capacity and a fast discharge capacity ratio.
