The present invention relates to an apparatus for operating an application providing the elderly emergency situation awareness service and to a method thereof. The apparatus comprises: an elderly situation information collection unit collecting the elderly situation information including at least one of heartbeat information, vibration information, acceleration information, blood sugar information, and location information measured from smart accessories carried by the elderly, when an application providing the elderly emergency awareness service is activated through a terminal of the elderly; an emergency situation determination unit analyzing the collected elderly situation information to determine whether an emergency situation has occurred; and an emergency situation notification unit notifying the emergency situation to a terminal of the corresponding elderly and a terminal of a guardian of the corresponding elderly when determined that the emergency situation has occurred.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2020
