The present invention relates to a system for providing medication information and a method for providing medication information using a drug storage unit. The system includes: a drug storage unit having a drug-receiving space therein and provided with a recognition code linked with a medication information sharing application at one side of the outer part thereof; a main server unit for storing personal information of a patient taking the drug and medication information for guiding medication, and providing the information through the medication information sharing application; a manager terminal capable of communicating with the main server unit and providing the personal information and medication information to the main server unit through the medication information sharing application; and a user terminal capable of communicating with the main server unit and receiving the medication information from the main server unit through the medication information sharing application. In the system, the user terminal scans the recognition code to activate the medication information sharing application.
