The present invention relates to a method for correcting distortion of three-dimensional (3D) coordinate data using a distortion correction device, to easily and correctly calculate 3D coordinate data of a target object without an expensive camera and an expensive lens, and a system thereof. According to one aspect of the present invention, a method for correcting distortion of 3D coordinate data in a stereo camera system using a distortion correction device comprises the following steps of: acquiring image data of a predetermined space through a stereo camera; processing the acquired image data in accordance with a predefined image processing process to generate 3D coordinate data; and correcting distortion of the generated 3D coordinate data based on a preset correction coefficient, wherein the preset correction coefficient is calculated through a 3D twisting algorithm predefined based on reference 3D coordinates of the predetermined space by using the distortion correction device. According to another aspect of the present invention, a stereo camera-based 3D coordinate data distortion correction system comprises: the distortion correction device spaced apart a predetermined distance in a direction facing the stereo camera and moving within a predetermined photographing space; the stereo camera including first and second image sensors and capturing the distortion correction device moving in a predetermined space through the first and second image sensors to generate image data for the predetermined space; and a position detection device connected to the stereo camera, acquiring the 3D coordinate data from the image data for the predetermined space acquired through the stereo camera in accordance with the predefined image processing process, and calculating the correction coefficient for correcting the distortion of the acquired 3D coordinate data through a predefined 3D twisting algorithm to correct the 3D coordinate data acquired through the stereo camera in future based on the correction coefficient.
