The present invention relates to a device for calculating a UV protection index for calculating a UV protection index according to cosmetic information without going through a measurement experiment, and a method for calculating a UV protection index thereof. The method includes the steps of: storing a database including a plurality of cosmetics and a UV blocking index corresponding to each of the cosmetics; generating, on the basis of the database, a decision tree in which cosmetic raw materials included in the cosmetics are explanatory variables and a UV blocking index is a dependent variable; receiving information input of cosmetics; and outputting the UV protection index of the information input cosmetics according to the decision tree.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2020
