The present invention relates to a phenylalkyl glucopyranoside compound isolated from Brugmansia arborea, a composition for preventing, ameliorating or treating diabetes comprising the same, and a method for preparing the compound. A fraction of a Brugmansia arborea extract and the phenylalkyl glucopyranoside compound isolated therefrom of the present invention restore the pancreatic islets damaged by alloxan in a zebrafish larva, and thus can be utilized as a pharmaceutical composition, a food composition, and the like for preventing, ameliorating or treating diabetes.
