Disclosed is an engine system to which a cylinder idle apparatus and a fuel separation apparatus are applied. According to an embodiment of present invention, the engine system may comprise: an engine including a plurality of cylinders which generate driving force by burning fuel; a fuel separation apparatus which separates the fuel stored in a main fuel tank into low-octane fuel and high-octane fuel in accordance with an octane number; a cylinder idle apparatus which idles some cylinders of the plurality of cylinders in accordance with an operation area; a low-octane fuel spray which sprays the low-octane fuel separated by the fuel separation apparatus towards the plurality of cylinders; a high-octane fuel spray which sprays high-octane fuel separated by the fuel separation apparatus to the cylinders idled by the cylinder idle apparatus; and a controller which controls all the plurality of cylinders to be activated or some cylinders to be idled by the cylinder idle apparatus in accordance with the operation area, and controls the low-octane fuel spray or the high-octane fuel spray to spray the low-octane fuel to all the cylinders through the low-octane fuel spray when all the cylinders are activated, and to spray the low-octane fuel or the high-octane fuel to the cylinders activated when the some cylinders are idled. The engine system can improve fuel efficiency in all operation areas.
