The distribution transformer monitoring system is a distribution transformer including a transformer fluid tank and a monitoring unit including a plurality of sensors, the monitoring unit being coupled to the distribution transformer, and the plurality of sensors are the transformer fluid of the distribution transformer in the monitoring unit. The monitoring unit, which includes a fluid sensor including a sensor probe extending into the tank, and a communication unit coupled to the distribution transformer and communicatively coupled to the monitoring unit. The monitoring unit includes a sensor module that receives sensor data from the plurality of sensors, a storage module that stores the sensor data in an internal data storage device of the monitoring unit, and analyzes the sensor data to determine the generated data. It may further include a module and a communication module for transmitting the sensor data or the generated data to a remote computing device.
