The present disclosure provides a pheromone composition and a method of using the composition to stimulate the early onset of estrus in a pig just before maturity, and a method for improving the ability of a female pig just before maturity. The composition may include at least one steroid hormone and a heterocyclic aromatic compound. The method includes administering the pheromone composition to the pig over a period of time.
