The solution disclosed herein achieves high scalability transaction throughput by providing cross ledger transfers between distributed ledgers. A method and instruction code for creating a cross ledger transfer 400 in a manner that effectively transfers value from a source distributed ledger 200S to a target distributed ledger 200T while preventing double payment of value is disclosed. From this, a transformation of the ledger occurs in that the total value of the source ledger decreases by the transmitted value and the total value of the target ledger increases by the same amount. Also disclosed is a system architecture 500 and 700 that achieves high scalability transaction throughput using cross ledger transmission between a plurality of distributed ledgers. In addition, computer devices 510 and 610 configured to implement cross ledger transmission between distributed ledgers are disclosed. Other embodiments and features are also disclosed.
