The present invention relates to a system for ensuring safe operation of a nuclear power plant in the event of a serious accident, i.e. a reactor core melt cooling (heat removal) method and system. The technical result of the claimed invention is to improve the safety of nuclear power plants and the cooling efficiency of the reactor core melt. The problem to be solved of the claimed invention is to increase the efficiency of cooling the melt of the reactor core by safely removing the heat load from the melting mirror. This eliminates vapor explosions leading to destruction of localized accident areas, reactor cavities and containment areas. The technical result is achieved by changing the principle of heat removal (cooling) of the melting of the reactor core. It is determined by the characteristics of the core catcher melting vessel, not the reactor, in order to proceed with heat removal after the reactor core vessel is destroyed due to melting. And the technical result consists of installing a temperature sensor and a level sensor. These sensors are required for heat removal in reactor core melting.
