Oil-based drilling fluid for high pressure and high temperature drilling operations

There is provided an oil-based drilling fluid composition comprising an oil phase comprising a base oil, an aqueous phase comprising water, at least one emulsifier, and one or more additives. At least one emulsifier comprises an amino amide having the formula R-CO-NH-R'-NH-R"-NH ₂ wherein R is a fatty acid alkyl and R'and R" are an alkyl group. The one or more additives are selected from wetting agents, rheology modifiers, fluid-loss control additives and weighting additives. A method for preparing an oil-based drilling liquid composition and a method for drilling a subterranean well using the oil-based drilling liquid composition are also provided.
