The present invention relates to a method for producing expanded graphite comprising adding and stirring a mixture of sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide at a weight of 40 to 150 times the weight of graphite powder, followed by cooling and swelling. Through this, the present invention uses the expanded graphite manufacturing method and the expanded graphite prepared therefrom without emission of toxic gas, simple process equipment, and increased interlayer distance, while easily dispersing in a hydrophilic solvent, and at the same time, the oxidation rate is increased. It is high, and the interlayer distance is increased, thereby implementing the effect of providing a method for producing graphene oxide having excellent fluidity and liquid crystal arrangement.
