The present invention relates to a performance tester and a performance test method for an air compressor in a large vehicle, which allow a user to simply check the compression force, filling speed, air leak, oil leak, and cooling water leak after manufacturing the air compressor and before mounting an engine. According to the present invention, the performance tester (1000) for an air compressor in a large vehicle comprises: a test bench (1100) to selectively adjust and transfer rotary force to the air compressor (1); an oil supply means (1200) to supply oil and water to and recollect them from the air compressor; a cooling water supply means (1300); an air dryer (1420) and a relief valve (1430), installed on a compressed air line (1410) of the air compressor; a purge air line (1450) connected to the part between the relief valve and a purge air tank (1550); a plurality of air tanks (1500) serially connected to the compressed air line; a main valve (1610) and a tank pressure gauge (1620), installed on the compressed air line in the part between the air compressor and the air tank at the closest position to the air compressor; a purge pressure gauge (1630) installed on the purge air line; each of drain valves (1700) located on a rear side of the air tanks and the purge air tanks to discharge the air; a pressure sensor (1800) mounted on the compressed air line installed in the part between a third air tank and a fourth air tank; a main control unit (1900) connected to the main valve, each of the drain valves, and the pressure sensor, thereby controlling the pressure of each of the pressure tanks; and a digital pressure gauge (1640) connected to the part between the main control unit and the pressure sensor.
