Competitive Window Adaptation of Multi-carrier listen-before-talk protocol

A method and network node for adaptation of a contention window in a multi-carrier wireless communication system implementing a listen-before-talk (LBT) protocol are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes determining at least one component carrier (CC) of a plurality of CCs serving as a backoff channel. The method further includes performing a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure on at least one CC serving as the backoff channel. The listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure includes detecting for each backoff channel whether there is a clear channel during the backoff period derived from the contention window (CW). The LBT procedure also includes deferring the transmission on the CC where the sensing does not indicate that a clear channel exists. The LBT procedure also includes transmitting on the CC indicating that a clear channel exists. The method also includes determining the magnitude of the CW based on the at least one transmission feedback value.
