The present invention relates to a smart power usage monitoring apparatus and a system thereof which can determine a dangerous situation of a user who lives alone. The smart power usage monitoring apparatus comprises: a body having a plug unit provided to be inserted into a socket formed in a home and a socket unit connected to the plug unit and provided to allow a plug of a home appliance to be inserted thereinto; a power measurement sensor which is provided on the body, and senses electric energy used by a home appliance connected to the socket unit; and a wireless communication module which is provided on the body, generates and transmits power usage information including electric energy used if the electric energy used by the home appliance connected to the socket unit is sensed by the power measurement sensor, and generates and transmits power non-usage information when the electric energy used by the home appliance connected to the socket unit is not sensed.
