The present invention provides a non-naturally occurring microbial organism having a 6-aminocaproic acid, caprolactam, hexamethylenediamine or levulinic acid pathway. The microbial organism comprises at least one exogenous nucleic acid encoding an enzyme in each 6-aminocaproic acid, caprolactam, hexamethylenediamine or levulinic acid pathway. The present invention further provides a method for producing 6-aminocaproic acid, caprolactam, hexamethylenediamine or levulinic acid. The method can include culturing a microbial organism producing 6-aminocaproic acid, caprolactam or hexamethylenediamine, wherein the microbial organism produces 6-aminocaproic acid, caprolactam, hexamethylenediamine or levulinic acid It expresses at least one exogenous nucleic acid encoding a 6-aminocaproic acid, caprolactam, hexamethylenediamine or levulinic acid pathway enzyme in an amount sufficient to produce each product for a sufficient time under conditions sufficient to:
