Provided are a process operating method and a system thereof, which can provide a scenario regarding a demand response for each process with respect to a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) system. To this end, the process operating method according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a step of receiving a demand response (DR) signal including electricity reduction time and an electricity reduction request amount; a step that an electricity reduction process corresponding to the DR signal is determined based on the DR signal; and a step that an electricity reduction estimation amount of the electricity reduction process is calculated and compared to the electricity reduction request amount, and it is determined whether to participate into the DR. Therefore, the water quality of a discharged effluent satisfies legal standards, and the electricity consumption of a sewage treatment facility can be variably controlled in accordance with the DR signal. Therefore, the electricity consumption of the sewage treatment facility can be reduced, and thus, a demand resource reduction amount can be guaranteed.
