The present invention comprises: providing a workpiece 6 to be clad; Guiding the strip electrode 4 to the surface of the workpiece 6; Cladding the strip electrode 4 to the surface of the workpiece 6 using electroslag cladding; A hybrid electroslag cladding method comprising the step of directing a metal cored hybrid electroslag cladding wire (7) to a welding puddle (9) of a strip electrode (4) to control the chemical composition of the cladding.
