This application provides clinical study data of PSD-95 inhibitors in subjects undergoing endovascular repair of an aneurysm in the CNS or otherwise affecting it. Subjects were stratified according to whether the aneurysm had ruptured prior to performing endovascular surgery. Rupture is associated with a higher mortality rate or increased weakness when the subject survives. The study provided evidence of significant benefit in subjects with and without aneurysmal rupture before endovascular surgery was performed. Surprisingly, the subjects who benefited most from treatment judged by both pathological and neurocognitive outcomes were those with an aneurysm rupture that caused subarachnoid hemorrhage. These data constitute evidence that PSD-95 inhibitors benefit in ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, as well as in the CNS or otherwise affecting bleeding, particularly subarachnoid hemorrhagic forms.
