The present invention relates to ginsenosides showing a growth inhibitory effect on Streptococcusmutans . According to the present invention, ginseng and red ginseng extract or ginsenosides (Rb1, Rb2, Rc, Rd, Re, Rg1, etc.) in a polymer form that is not structurally converted from them have little antibacterial effect against caries bacteria, but sugar is removed therefrom. The form of low-molecular ginsenosides (Rg3, Rh1, Rh2, F2, Compound K, etc.) or mixtures thereof has a strong inhibitory effect against cavities.
