An adaptive equalization system and method using an eye opening monitor based on a signal counting method is presented. The adaptive equalization system using the eye opening monitor based on the signal counting method proposed in the present invention uses a gradient descent algorithm to adjust the coefficient and to find and fix the coefficient with the largest area of eye opening, and is a CTLE (Continuous Time Linear Equalizer) and It includes a Decision Feedback Equalizer (DFE) that adjusts the weight of each tap to find the coefficient having the largest area of the eye open, and ends the equalizer coefficient adjustment when the area of the eye open according to the coefficient converges to the maximum value.
