The present invention relates to inhibitors of IGFBP3 and its use for the treatment and/or prevention of intestinal diseases, in particular diabetic enteropathy or inflammatory bowel disease. The present invention also relates to IGFGP3 and its use for the diagnosis, prognosis of bowel disease, especially diabetic bowel disease or inflammatory bowel disease.
