The present invention relates to flame retardant thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) compositions, more particularly to flame retardant thermoplastic polyurethane compositions comprising a halogen-free flame retardant. The TPU compositions are useful in applications where high flame performance, and optionally low smoke properties, as well as high tensile strength are desired, such as wire and cable applications, film applications, molding applications, and the like. In addition, the present invention relates to a method for preparing a halogen-free flame retardant TPU composition and a method for preparing wire and cable jacketing from such a composition.
