In holder and cover of test bench stand for testing wheels and axes of wheel pairs retaining rail simulator ring, there is a groove providing access of cutting tool and welding equipment to the rail simulator ring. On the side surface of the holder there are additional horizontal tightening elements intended for increasing the compression force of the rail simulator ring when performing the operation for restoration of its inner diameter. In case of increasing the internal diameter of the rail simulator ring above the permissible value, a sector is cut out from it, compressed by means of tightening of horizontal fasteners and additional horizontally located tightening elements, said joint is gripped by short welded seams to remove rail simulator ring from stand, complete butt welding of the butt is performed, mechanical treatment and heat treatment of the rail simulator ring performed, re-installed in the stand and fixed in it.
