FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a crane with boom (3), comprising gripper (9), a crane overload protection device, a monitoring device for monitoring the operation of the overload protection device, determination means for determination of retaining boom and/or tension force induced in jig. By means of monitoring device, in online mode during operation crane is determined from specified force (F_N) tension moment (F_N x I_N) of tension, from recognized outreach (I_{G + S}) and recognized load (F_{G + S}) determining moment (F_{G + S} x I_{G + S}) of cargo.
