FIELD: data processing.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to post-Shannon discrete information conversion channels. Method of processing a signal-noise mixture (SNM) in post-Shannon channels: in a receiving device, the SNM before quantisation is reduced in modulus to the required level, but not less than the level of the signal potentially contained in it, while simultaneously amplifying to a level within the dynamic range of the quantiser. Reduction is carried out by subtracting from the initial signal-noise mixture an auxiliary signal with the required level, such that the residue satisfies the above reduction condition. Reduction-amplification process ensures conformity of resolution of used quantiser to level of signal, which is potentially contained in signal-noise mixture, when processing signal levels low by technical criteria, the reduction-amplification procedure is cyclically repeated, taking in each subsequent cycle as the initial signal-noise mixture the processed signal-noise mixture obtained in the previous cycle.;EFFECT: technical result of the invention is the possibility of using the ADC of lower bit capacity with all other requirements to the device for converting the SNM.;1 cl
