FIELD: chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst for hydrotreatment of hydrocarbon material, a method for production thereof and a method for hydrotreatment of hydrocarbon material in the presence of said catalyst. Catalyst contains: catalyst support; at least one metal component of group VIB; at least one metal component of group VIII; at least one mercaptocarboxylic acid. Catalyst support contains a dopant containing boron, as well as, optionally, silicon and/or phosphorus in range of 1 to 13 wt. % per oxide and per total weight of the catalyst for each added dopant. Total amount of dopant added to carrier material is in range of 1–26 wt. %. Content of boron in the catalyst is in range of 2–13 wt. %, in terms of oxide (B2O3) and in terms of total weight of the catalyst. Amount of at least one mercaptocarboxylic acid ranges from 0.4 to 3 equivalents with respect to the amount of sulphur required to form sulphides of components of groups VI and VIII. At least part of metal components of group VIB and group VIII, which are present in catalyst, are converted to sulphide form. Method of producing catalyst includes: a) forming a doped catalyst support by extrusion in the form of spheres or extrudates containing a dopant containing boron, as well as, optionally, silicon and/or phosphorus in said amount; b) drying and annealing the catalyst support at a temperature in range of 475 to 900 °C; c) impregnating burnt catalyst support with a solution containing mercaptocarboxylic acid, at least one VIB group metal source and at least one group VIII metal source; d) holding the impregnated catalyst support at temperature of 60 to 160 °C until free-flowing extrudates are obtained; and e) a catalyst activation step, at which at least a portion of the metal components of group VIB and group VIII present in the catalyst are converted to a sulphide form.;EFFECT: technical result is use of doped carrier in combination with mercaptocarboxylic acid (and metals) provides an additional advantage with respect to activity, which is higher than total effect of dopant and mercaptocarboxylic acid.;20 cl, 1 dwg, 9 tbl, 24 ex
