FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication. Communication system comprises a plurality of cells associated with a corresponding serving area of a terminating user plane function (TUPF). Base station operating the cell in the communication system controls the communication session at the communication device through the base station and TUPF. Mobility of a communication device between a cell operated by a base station (source cell) and a suitable target cell is carried out as follows: when a communication session uses a nomadic IP address and the target cell is associated with the same TUPF serving area as the source cell, but the base station is unable to determine the serving TUPF zone of the target cell, the base station initiates a readdressing procedure, not a handover procedure. During the redirection procedure, the communication connection for the communication session through the source cell is terminated before the target cell is prepared to receive communication for the communication session of the communication device.;EFFECT: technical result consists in establishment of optimum path for communication session.;11 cl, 7 dwg
