FIELD: biotechnology.;SUBSTANCE: methods are provided for treating a patient with cancer, which demonstrates: (i) hemizygous loss of TP53 gene; (ii) hemizygous loss of the POLR2A gene; and/or (iii) reduced expression level of POLR2A gene product relative to reference (i.e. control) level of expression.
