FIELD: medicine.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ophthalmology and can be used for determining the state of eye membranes on periphery of fundus in the presence of silicone tamponade vitreal cavity by ultrasonic examination. A linear high-frequency sensor of 10–16 MHz Voluson ultrasonic diagnostic system is used. Each eye quadrant is scanned by moving the scanning plane from the central portion to the extreme periphery with sequential orientation of the sensor first in a longitudinal direction and then in a transverse direction. If observing a linear hyperechoic shadow extending along the inner surface of the eye and merging with the acoustic shadow of its membranes, recurrence of peripheral retinal detachment is determined, and when this shadow spreads towards the crystalline lens, the border of the silicone oil bubble is determined.;EFFECT: method enables detecting the recurrence of retinal detachment on the background of the silicone endotamponade of the vitreal cavity of the eye in the ocular fundus hard to access for visualization due to the ultrasonic criteria of retinal detachment on the background of the silicone endotamponade of the vitreal cavity of the eye.;1 cl, 2 dwg, 2 ex
