FIELD: chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: graphite-containing refractory material contains magnesia refractory filler or refractory filler based on aluminium oxide and silicon carbide, as well as graphite in amount from 1 % to 80 % by weight and multiple bundles of carbon fibres. Each bundle consists of 1000 to 300,000 carbon fibres with diameter in range of 1 to 45 mcm/fibre bonded with binder. Carbon fibre bundle has length of 100 mm or more. End surface of each bundle of carbon fibres has flattened shape, at which width of end surface of bundle of carbon fibres is more than its width. Fibre bundles are located inside graphite-containing fire-resistant material so that longitudinal direction of end surfaces of bundles is identical, and angle between compression surface and longitudinal direction of each end surface makes 45 to 135°.;EFFECT: disclosed is graphite-containing refractory material having high bending strength and breaking energy compared to known refractory materials, and a method of producing said refractory material.;19 cl, 85 ex, 16 tbl, 13 dwg
