Portable milking unit outputs data related to milking of a specific milk animal, directly to wireless user equipment through a short-range wireless communication link. Wireless user equipment receives data directly from a portable milking unit through a short-range wireless communication link. Received data contain information indicating milk yield of a specific dairy animal during milking. Method further comprises storing received data in memory by wireless user equipment, as well as extraction of previously stored data relating to one or more previous milking operations. Method further comprises emitting received data by wireless user equipment and retrieved previously stored data for display on wireless user equipment display.;EFFECT: technical result consists in providing communication using short-range wireless communication between devices on a dairy farm.;12 cl, 16 dwg
