FIELD: smoking accessories.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the tobacco industry, in particular, to a device and a method for emptying trays of different types, as well as to a conversion unit for changing the configuration of the tray. Developed is a device for emptying two types of trays with different configurations for rod-shaped products of tobacco industry, wherein first type tray is a five-wall tray, and the second type tray is a four-wall tray. Apparatus comprises a first or second type filled tray arrangement, a rotary unit configured to rotate a first-type filled tray or a second-type tray, a lifting unit configured to lift the rotary unit, a station for emptying a filled tray of a first type or a tray of a second type, a station for empty trays of the first or second type and a control system configured to control units of said device. Device comprises a conversion unit configured to change the configuration of the first type tray to a configuration corresponding to the configuration of the second type tray. Conversion unit is configured to change the configuration of the tray of the first type to the configuration corresponding to the configuration of the tray of the second type, when the tray of the first type is supplied for unloading and with the possibility of preserving the configuration of the tray of the second type when the tray of the second type is supplied for unloading. Transformation unit further comprises a linear-action lifting mechanism configured to lift the hinge wall and connecting elements, and a linear action push mechanism configured to press the hinge wall and the connecting elements to the other walls of the tray. Invention also relates to a converting unit and a method for emptying trays using a tray emptying device and a conversion unit.;EFFECT: technical results consists in simplifying the design of the emptying device, improving production efficiency and automating the process of changing configuration of the loaded trays.;14 cl, 17 dwg
