The invention relates to a permanent magnet synchronous motor for a compressor of a vehicle air conditioning system, comprising an annular stator and a cylindrical rotor which is rotatably disposed about an axis of rotation within the stator while leaving an air gap between the stator and the rotor. In this case, the rotor is constructed from stacked in the direction of the rotor axis of the electrical steel sheets, which have a respect to the reduction of the audible and noticeable vibrations optimized geometry. A plurality of V-shaped aligned pairs of elongated magnets each forming a magnetic pole (3,4) are circumferentially disposed about the axis of rotation of the rotor and embedded in corresponding grooves (7, 8) in the rotor. The electrical sheets (1) have a sheet metal geometry such that their outer edge (2) deviates from a circular geometry in that at least one section (2a) of the outer edge (2) is straight and oriented so that in each case an imaginary central axis (9 ) as a mirror symmetry axis between two adjacent, differently polarized magnetic poles (3, 4) and beyond on the one hand through the center of the rotor and on the other hand vertically and centrally through the straight section (2a). The invention further relates to a magnetic positioning system for magnets in one Permanent magnet synchronous motor for a compressor of a vehicle air conditioning system.
