An internal combustion engine with an exhaust gas turbocharger and an exhaust gas turbocharger are described. In the area of the compressor inlet of the exhaust gas turbocharger, a device is provided which both changes the cross section of the compressor inlet and adjusts the exhaust gas recirculation rate. In this way, the exhaust gas turbocharger is particularly space-saving and inexpensive in the compressor inlet area.
