Embodiments of the disclosure generally relate to touch panel security and in particular to the use of one or more security features that are present on one or more electrodes of a sensor module of a touch panel. Embodiments of security features can affect the capacitive coupling at a node of a sensor in a manner that is detectable by a microcontroller or other logic circuit, and the position of the security features can provide a basis for an identifier that is used to identify a touch panel at a host. Device with which the touch panel tries to communicate can be used.
