A fluidic scanning nozzle has an interaction chamber which is defined between an upstream end and a downstream end and has a longitudinal chamber axis. The upstream end has an inlet opening for receiving and supplying a pressurized fluid into the interaction chamber along the chamber axis. The downstream end has an outlet orifice for discharging a generally conical outlet spray of liquid droplets from the chamber into the environment, and an axial gap positioned between the upstream end and the downstream end. The upstream and downstream ends may define inner cavities with a hemispherical shape. It may be that the axial gap defines a cylindrical sidewall segment which is formed between an upper inner cavity with a hemispherical shape and a lower inner cavity with a hemispherical shape. The axial gap has a selected axial length and inner diameter and can be either a stepless axial gap or a stepped axial gap.
