Method for visualizing fluorescence decay curves, comprising the steps: (a) Forming a first weighted moment from the fluorescence decay curves with a first weight function that is not a sine or cosine function, (b) Forming a second weighted moment from the Fluorescence decay curves with a second weight function that is not a sine or cosine function, (c) displaying the two moments as points in a coordinate system, characterized in that (d) the coordinate system has a first coordinate axis on which the first moment is plotted, and has a second coordinate axis on which the second moment is plotted.
