The invention relates to the field of workpiece machining and workpiece construction. In particular, it relates to a method for defining a movement path (90, 190, 290) of an additive or subtractive tool or a laser beam used as a tool. For this purpose, it is proposed that the method define a movement path (90, 190, 290) which in at least a partial area (80, 180, 280) on the processing plane (22) has hatching of mutually parallel and straight path sections which are inclined by a hatching angle (A, B, C) with respect to a reference direction (33). The method according to the invention is used to define these hatching angles (A, B, C) using a Radon transformation.
