The invention relates to a lubricant composition for fluid dynamic bearing systems which comprises a base fluid which comprises at least one monoester with the formula AXB, where (a) X is an ester group -C (= O) -O- or -OC (= O) -, A is a C8-C16-alkyl radical with a C5-C10-alkyl radical as a side group in the 2-position, and B is a C5-C8-alkyl radical with a C1-C4-alkyl radical as a side group in the 2-position or (b) X is an ester group - (C = O) -O-, A is a C8-C16-alkyl radical with a C5-C10-alkyl radical as a side group in the 2-position, andB is a terminally branched C7-C12-alkyl radical or (c) X is - O- (CO) -, A is straight C5-C9 alkyl or branched C5-C9 alkyl with a C1-C2 alkyl group as a pendant group, and B is C15-C20 unsaturated alkyl; a fluid dynamic bearing system with such a lubricant composition; a motor with such a fluid dynamic bearing system; as well as a hard disk drive, a fan and a laser scanner with such a motor.
