A dosing control unit (DCU) (130) may receive operational information in connection with a selective catalytic reduction or SCR aftertreatment system (110). The DCU (130) may generate a deposit forecast in conjunction with the SCR aftertreatment system (110) based on the operational information. The deposition prediction may include information identifying a predicted size of a deposit in a metering zone (200) of a plurality of metering zones (200) in conjunction with the SCR aftertreatment system (110). The deposition prediction may be generated using a deposition growth model to predict the size of deposits in the plurality of metering zones (200). The DCU (130) may select a dosing scheme from a variety of dosing schemes based on the deposition prediction. The DCU (130) may implement the selected dosing scheme to cause diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) (122) in the plurality of metering zones (200) to be metered according to the selected metering scheme.
